Just past the Senior Center at 40200 Utica Road lies the Bocce Barn Courts; get excited for a recreational opportunity provided by the Recreating Recreation Millage. This three-season facility is fully enclosed and contains two turf bocce courts, allowing Residents and Non-Residents to experience every bit of this exciting new amenity from 2023 onward! The Bocce Barn will be reserved Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. for over fifty scheduled events sponsored by the Senior Center. But don’t worry! Those interested in renting out this location still have plenty of chances to reserve a time!
The Courts are available for parties of four to twenty people during each block of time. There are two open blocks Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. and 7 p.m. until 8:45 p.m. On Saturdays and Sundays, the Courts are open from 12 p.m. until 1:45 p.m., 2 p.m. until 3:45 p.m., and 4 p.m. until 5:45 p.m.
Residents of Sterling Heights can pre-register for bocce barn open times on Thursdays, while non-residents must register the following day (Friday). All participants need to book their time slots in advance through online registration. The deadline for registering is 3 pm the day before planned visits – so if you want a Saturday session, make sure to reserve it no later than Friday afternoon! Dodge Park also has Sterling Heights Skate Park for guests to show off their latest tricks. The Skate Park is located at 40111 Dodge Park Road between 41A District Court and the Sterling Heights Public Library. The park is open from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. during the months of April through September. During the months of October through March, the park is open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Dodge Park’s Dog Park is the perfect spot for your pup to let loose and frolic in the sun! Open from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Mondays, and 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays, this spacious off-leash facility boasts picnic tables, fencing, a water fountain, dog bag dispensers, and more! With 1.25 acres designated for all-size dogs to explore, as well as a .75-acre area dedicated just for small breeds, there’s plenty of room to roam around safely without worry or restraint. Please note that children under 6 are not allowed within park boundaries at any time; however, kids aged 6-17 may enter if accompanied by an adult pass holder. To maintain the Sterling Heights Dog Park, pass holders are responsible for adhering to both general park regulations and those outlined in their signed agreement. Passes will only be issued once all requirements have been met; prospective pass holders must present a current dog’s license, immunization record, Code of Conduct form (initialed), and an annual fee before admission is granted. Only authorized yearly subscribers can bring pre-approved dogs into the park.
If you’re planning a special occasion, the Parks and Recreation Department has pavilions available for rent. The City of Sterling Heights Parks System provides people with numerous recreational options from exercises to leisure activities that can be enjoyed in one of their many parks. Except for the Farmer’s Market Pavillon, all other park pavilions can be reserved for private events! The parks are designed to encourage family-friendly activities and recreational pursuits. For this reason, these functions may include birthday celebrations, graduations parties, picnics, barbecues, and other exciting recreational opportunities. Gatherings of all sizes can be held in the park – from small intimate gatherings with family members only to large get-togethers suitable for friends and extended relations alike! A Picnic Pavilion Permit is required for reservation of the Pavilion and is only valid for the date noted on the permit.
